Geek Chic Cosmetics

Geek Chic Cosmetics

So I have been DYING to try this line out for a while and I finally did. One word: IMPRESSIVE. Its amazing what happens when you decide that drug stores, Sephora, MAC, and department stores aren't the only place to look for make up.   Deb from Geek Chic was kind enough to send me some samples and I purchased an eye shadow collection (Big Damn Heroes) as well as the eye shadow Scientist Salarian and Happy Ending Geek Gloss.  The make up is inspired by all things geeky. I mean they have an eye shadow collection called "10 Man Raid"!!!!!

  • This make up is geared towards sensitive/acne prone skin.
  • SUPER AFFORDABLE.

The colors are super pigmented!!  You also get a bang for your buck because a little goes a VERY long way. As far as staying power goes well... 3 hours later and I'm still looking at the swatches on my hand and they look just like the picture you see on the left. The lip gloss was very light and natural with a hint of sparkle which i rather prefer however from looking at the tube one might think otherwise. For the price you pay this is quite a deal!! I totally recommend it.

My Personal Skin Care Routine

I recently had a post about Battling Acne, if you'd like to check it out click the link below.

First and foremost this is me WITH OUT make up! Yes, I'm a little scary but I want to be completely honest with each and every one of you. :)

Even on camera it is deceiving. My skin looks more accurate on video than these pictures. So let me tell you what I do to take care of my skin. My routine is a little different at night but not really. I just change up the products.

I use the Clinique AcneSolutions Skin System to care for my face. It comes with Face Wash, Toner, and Moisturizer... it all has salicylic acid.  I use all 3 products daily.  The moisturizer gets changed up with the seasons. If my skin is feeling drier than usual I will switch to Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel.  At the end of the day, to get your perfect skin care routine you have to get to know your skin.  Also, about once a week I exfioliate using St. Ives Apricot Scrub, Gentle, Sensitive Skin, 6-Ounce Tubes (Pack of 6).  So yes, some of these products are department store but I do also use drug store products as well. The bottom line is you have to find products that work for you.

Morning Routine:
  1. Face wash: I tend to use L'Oreal Paris Go 360 Clean, Deep Facial Cleanser, 6-Fluid Ounce in the mornings because I have a bare face (no make up) and can exfoiliate my skin with the pad really well. Also, this face wash doesn't dry out my skin. :)
  2. I then dry off my face and use the toner in the Acne Solutions kit. I make sure that my cotton ball is rather clean. If there is still dirt on there I continue to tone.
  3. I then apply moisturizer. Like I said above... if my skin is feeling very dry I'll use the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel with Pump 4.2oz / 125ml.
  4. Afer I let my moisturizer sink in, I usually apply an eye moisturizer and that is all. If I know its a day that I'm going to be bare faced then I will apply SPF of some sort.
Night Routine:
  1. Clean off face with luke warm water & towel or a cosmetic towelette. This will ensure that the make up you've worn during the day is off.
  2. I then clean my face with the face wash that comes in the Clinique Acne Solutions Clear Skin System All Skin Types System Starter Kit. I like to use this one at night because it is a little more intense.
  3. I use the same toner that I use in the morning and I again tone until my cotton ball is clean.
  4. I then moisturize using the moisturizer in the Acne solutions kit due to the intensity as well. I will be investing in an anti aging night moisturizer quite soon but as of now this is what I use.  I also apply eye moisturizer at night.
I hope this has helped some of you. Every one's skin is different so just be sure to note what works for YOU and what doesn't. :)
