Artist of the Month- Oct 2009

LADY GAGA

I'm sure everyone has heard of her. She's pretty unique in the sense that she is totally a pop princess with a touch of Marilyn Manson when it comes to  fashion.  Her songs are really catchy.  I've had her album "The Fame" for a very long time now and I still listen to "Paparazzi" nonstop and I really like the songs "Boys, Boys, Boys" and "Starstruck". On Nov. 23rd she will be releasing "Fame Monster" which is an extension of her album "The Fame" and it will include 8 more songs. Oh yes and her new single "Bad Romance" is very euro pop lol I love it! Enjoy!  Here are some links:

Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencils

Okay, I admit that I'm a bit bananas about Urban Decay but its for no reason.  I'm pretty impressed!!  A friend told me how much she loved their 24/7 eye pencils and it was at the top of my list. Well, once I got the book of shadows vol 2  I was able to try the pencils in Zero and Bourbon.  I'M HOOKED NOW! These pencils are creamy, smudge like a dream, beautiful colors, and stay on ALL day.  What more can you ask for in an eye liner?

Anyway, I got the 24/7 super stash and I can't wait to use all of the colors.  Here is a swatch and brief commentary on each color. All the colors are included in the 24/7 super stash except for bourbon. Also, all of the colors are metallic except for zero.

  • Bourbon- has glitter, copper color
  • Ransom- medium purple, very pretty and bright
  • Oil Slick- dark grey almost black w/ silver glitter
  • Zero- only matte color, black
  • Binge- medium blue color
  • Graffiti- glittery and green like grass.
  • Eldorado- beautiful gold
  • Stash- glittery, antique goldish bronze with a touch of olive
  • Corrupt- dark bronze
  • Rockstar- deep plum
<3My favorites are Rockstar , Binge, Eldorado, and Stash.<3

Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol 2

URBAN DECAY BOOK OF SHADOWS VOL 2
Overall I believe that UD totally improved everything in the 2nd edition. The packaging is cuter. The eyeliners versus last years make up brushes are way better. Not to mention the colors are gorgeous.  It's a very nice mix.  You have natural shades, dramatic and in between.  :)  I'm super stoked!  The only thing that seems a little strange is that the shadows don't seem as creamy but that could be my imagination. lol  The color pay off is exceptional and I totally recommend this palette.

My favorites are sellout, ac/dc, jinx, mushroom, and misdemeanor.

Kim's Artist of the Month- Sept 2009

PAOLO NUTINI

He's only 22 years old and sounds like he could be well into his 70s... but that could be because he's very soulful and has a Scottish accent. He's absolutely brilliant! He's been on the scene for a couple of years now.  I was first introduced to him when I heard a song about shoes called "New Shoes"... naturally I liked it. lol I hadn't heard from him since that song until a friend played  a song for me and I became hooked. I recommend the album Sunny Side Up and note worthy songs on there are "Candy" and "No Other Way"

Okay, so this is really really old but its the Urban Decay Book of Shadows. Alot of the colors that are featured in the palette are still available for individual sale or in smaller palettes.

They are swatched on my arm :) I will have a description of each color after the pertaining pic.

Last Call- super beautiful... a mixture of pink/purple... a deep fuschia.
Scandal- One of my favs... very innocent pink
Midnight Cowboy- Frosted Light Pinky Beige w/ silver glitter. Very Fun!
Mayhem- Beautiful iridescent purple

Smog- Deep Bronze :)
Sidecar- Frosted Light Brown with Silver Glitter
Roach- Another favorite of mine... gorgeous burgundy color with a hint of bronze. Great for fall
Grifter- Light purple with silver glitter

Perversion- Shimmery black. Great for eyeliner!
Goddess- Amazing Navy Blue. It has blue glitter in it but is still very tasteful.
Gridlock- Just like Sidecar minus the glitter
Baked- Highly pigment goldish bronze color. This is the color I probably use the most.

Protest- Deep emereald color. I love love love this one!
Absinthe- fun bright green! Reminds me of St. Patrick's Day.
Shakedown- Awesome grey... I use this one quite a lot. It has a sort of green undertone.

Kim's Artist of the Month

Every month I will be featuring an artist that I recommend you check out! I will link you to their myspace accounts so that you can check out their music since I haven't quite figured out how to do that on here yet. Anyway, my very first Artist of the Month is Chester French. These guys are so rad. They kinda sound like the Beatles mixed with who knows what but are definitely unique. Most people say that they have a hip hop sound to them but I really don't think they do. They are definitely a band to check out. My favorite songs on their album are "The Jimmy Choos," "People," and "Bebe Beull." If you really really like them you can actually sign up on their website for their VIP Conceirge Service and you get a free mixtape album sent to you (Nerd Girl is on there and that's totally my theme song). These guys are so cool! It also doesn't hurt that I'm absolutely in love with D.A. (The red head... he's so cute). Check them out!!!

Review on Lush products!

So I was a little iffy about using lush products because I figured it was another fad that was going around and that I just wasn't going to use it blah, blah. Well, I went to the mall and boom there it was and I just gave in. I purchased Dark Angels Cleanser, Grease Lightning, Up you Gets Emotibomb, and Dreamwash. My thoughts... well

Dark Angels cleanser... ABSOLUTELY LOVE!
Grease Lightning... it does work well but I do find that it makes my skin feel like i have a mask on at first. It just feels like I'm wearing something when I put it on. Otherwise, I think its something definitely worth trying.
Up You Gets Emotibomb- I only chunked off a little piece when I first used it and though I smelled the aroma... it just wasn't enough. This is something that I would say you need at least half of it to get a good sense of the product. It is super citrusy from what I could tell. :)
Dreamwash- Okay, okay so I'm not too thrilled about this one but I will give it sometime. The calamine lotion gives it a weird smell and it feels my skin feeling a little odd... I don't know maybe with some prolonged usage I will see some results. :) Don't hesitate to moisturize after using this product because it leaves you with a dry feelinjg.

Betsey Johnson's New Jewelry

I'm totally excited about Betsey Johnson's new jewelry collection! I have been trying to stay away from her stuff for a while because I was buying way too many pieces and I only wear about 30% of the things that I have purchased from her. However, today I was shopping around online and I absolutely must get this necklace!!
I'm going to have to purchase this!! I absolutely love it! A lot of her new stuff has a python hearts on them (tres cute! btw). Definitely something to check out. All of her jewelry is really fun and funky! Every time I wear one of her necklaces I get so many compliments. Her necklaces range from 35-150. I think the one that I want is $50. So go check her out if you haven't already at www.betseyjohnson.com She is one of my absolute favorite jewelry designers!

Lauren Luke & Rockers

Its no secret that I'm one of Lauren Luke's fans on youtube but I still haven't gotten around to ordering one of her palettes yet. Well, if you are like me that will be an easier task to attain because they will be available on sephora.com to order.

Click here if you want to watch some of Lauren Luke's videos using her makeup palettes.

Now on to fashion! Let me just throw this out there... I'm a normal girl with simple means and I in no way or fashion claim to be a fashion or makeup guru. They are just hobbies to me. So if I seem to be a little late with trends or I just seem to come off like I don't know much about makeup... well you are probably completely right.

Having said that... I am loving this rocker trend. Here are a few inexpensive pieces that can make a simple outfit seem more rocker! I will post a description of each one and a link to where you can get these items at after pics.

1. Findd by Steve Madden. These shoes would look great with a pair of skinny jeans and a rock inspired top! Only 90! Available Here.
2. Pearl Rhinestone Chain Necklace by Guess?. If you are looking to just play up an outfit this necklace would do wonders. The many layers will give your plain jane outfit a lift and make you look rockerific in a heart beat! Available Here.
3. Chain Strap Tank by Silence and Noise. Though I couldn't find the tank that I was thinking of... this tank, though suttle, has rock written all over it. Available Here.

Rock on!

Maybe I'm too young for this... oh well!!

Let me be super clear on this... I'm only 24 years old and I in no way, shape, or form have any wrinkles! However, I do think prevention is a good way to go about things... especially with inevitable. So naturally I purchased Neutrogena's healthy skin rejuvenator because it does 2 things I liked... it helps with the prevention of aging and it gives a good scrub! I've only used it 3 times but I honestly think that its making a difference in the way that my face feels. My face feels super soft after and I have noticed that some of my blemishes have disappeared (great bonus)! My skin is acne prone so I am constantly trying to find ways in which to prevent that as well. Another great thing about this product is that its very affordable. I got the starter kit for $35. It comes with plenty of pads so I imagine I wont need another refill for maybe a month.

Hello Internets!

Well guys this blog is going to cover all sorts of random parts of life. I will be discussing my thoughts on fashion, makeup, music and any other random thing that pops up in my life. I also love to take pictures so there will be plenty of them posted on here!
